Another camera phone capture. A clear well defined photo just wouldn't do justice to the chaos that is Pack 261's Pinewood Derby! :)

Friday, January 23, 2009

Creeping down Carrollton Ave. in bumper to bumper traffic, I heard the streetcar coming up behind me, pulled out my phone and snapped my POTD.

I drove down River Road with Chris so he could pick up his retainer at the ortho's Destrehan office. Since I thought to take my camera with me, I let him drive home while I snapped photos through the windshield of the moving car. I took a picture of a plantation, a tavern, a grain elevator, and more, but this old, rundown, rusted tin-roofed home is my favorite!

The Spongemobile, Kevin's race car for next week's Pinewood Derby! I had quite a bit of fun with this...maybe TOO much fun! =0

This is what I did today...played with my macabre cemetery photos in PSE. I love how they came out!

Absorbed in his DS, Kevin lays across the stairs in the dark! I had to turn on the light to take this picture!

A remnant of Christmas, our little elf on the shelf still presides on one corner of the mantlepiece. I need to find his box.

Pile of folded laundry destined for Kevin's room. Note the Spongebob PJ's that he has almost outgrown. :(

Usually those plants are on the OTHER side of the door. 'Protect your tender vegetation' they said, predicting temps below freezing for several nights this week, so the foyer has been turned into a greenhouse.

DVD's fresh from Blockbuster!

Monday, January 12, 2009

What's for breakfast? Pancakes! Chocolate chip pancakes! This is standard fare for Kevin, his choice on over 300 (maybe up to 325) days out of 365. I make them in batches and freeze!

Looking up a recipe for lunch. La Madeleine's potato soup sounds like a good accompaniment for grilled cheese sandwiches on this cold day.

The remains of our gingerbread house. It didn't take long for the vultures to devour this beauty!

Friday, January 9, 2009

A filler. Forgot to take a photo, so here's one of my fave from the last couple of weeks.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

The idea for this shot came from Tini's photoblog! This angle shows some of the books I've read in 2008 lined up on my dresser with Tommy's overflowing bookshelves reflected in the mirror! We have a library!

I love this little area in my bathroom. The garden tub seems to be part of an ancient bath with the mural wrapping around two sides, and the octagonal window lets in so much daylight that my plants flourish! At night, however, when the alley between homes is pitch black, that same window turns CREEPY!

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

It was nice to have sturdy house pieces and a variety of goodies with which to build and embellish this gingerbread house. Using a kit seemed like cheating!

Oranges from a friends' backyard "orchard". Mmmm...delicious!

Beautiful wrought iron fence in New Orleans' St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.

A Christmas tree stands tall in the courtyard of the Ritz Hotel, New Orleans.

Friday, January 2, 2009

"Chicken King" Al Copeland has put on a magnificent Christmas display at his home for over 30 years. This, the year of his death, is the last at Folse St., but the lights and glitz were donated and will shine again...in Lafreniere Park.

Kevin, minutes after midnight, writing with the light from his sparkler. Happy New Year!
